Just a quick recap of how 2014 ended and this year started. I had the opportunity to attend the 2014 National Land Trust Rally in Providence, RI, in September. The Rally is the national conference of the Land Trust Alliance (LTA) and over 1500 people attended from local, state, and national conservation organizations from all states and several countries. My photography is leaning more and more toward conservation photography so this was a great way to hear what's happening across the country and also a wonderful learning experience for my role as a Director and Stewardship Committee member of the Great Works Regional Land Trust here in southern Maine. I took several photos on a kayaking field trip and a few were requested by the LTA afterwards for their use. This was followed in November by serving as Co-Chair of the York Art Association's "The Great (Conserved) Outdoors" photo show. We also partnered with the Mt Agamenticus to the Sea Conservation Initiative by providing them a venue to showcase their own photo competition.
I attended the 2015 North American Photography Association's (NANPA) Summit conference in San Diego in Feb. This is a conference guaranteed to get you psyched up for outdoor photography. Many nationally and internationally recognized nature/wildlife photographers were there to show their work and give advice to the less experienced.
